The design draws its inspiration from the traditional Chinese dragon, a symbol of power and good fortune. However, Sisi Don has broken away from the traditional heavy and complex lines of the dragon, opting instead for a more modern, streamlined form. The result is a design that is both youthful and contemporary, yet deeply rooted in tradition.
What sets this design apart from others is its innovative use of luminous ink. This allows the dragon pattern to be displayed even in the dark, adding a touch of mystery and intrigue to the packaging. The use of this technology not only highlights the uniqueness of the product but also adds to the brand's youthful image.
The packaging itself is designed to be interactive, with the left and right sides opening to reveal a multi-level visual effect. The design also integrates well with the bottle, creating a cohesive and harmonious overall look. The dimensions of the packaging are 150mm in width, 110mm in depth, and 280mm in height.
The design process involved extensive research into different design styles, box opening mechanisms, and printing materials. The aim was to create a product that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also offered a unique unboxing experience. The biggest challenge was the application of the luminous ink on the bottle, a hurdle that was successfully overcome.
The Gujinggongjiu design project began in April 2021 in Chang sha and was completed in August 2021 in Shenzhen. The project was a collaboration between Sisi Don and the Infinity Studio team. The design has been lauded for its innovative approach to packaging, earning it the prestigious Golden A' Packaging Design Award in 2022.
